I’m pleased to have just launched the new website for Jean-Claude Van Blime, a Parisian artist, and retired CEO of a major pharmaceutical company. I’m hardly a qualified art critic, but having seen many of Jean-Claude’s works in person, I’m very proud to have been a part of this project.
I met with Jean-Claude in his Paris home. We hit it off very well, and I was very excited to begin work. At the outset of this project, one thing was very clear: the website should not distract from the art. I set out to create a super-simple design that allowed the art to speak for itself.
Am I proud of the design? It’s not the flashiest website I’ve done, by a long shot. But sometimes, being a good designer means sacrificing your ego for the needs of the client. In this case, it was my intention for the design to be as simple as possible, while still looking professional.
